The choreographer and dancer Chey Jurado, winner of RTVE’s 2022 El Ojo Crítico de Danza Award, began his career as a self-taught dancer on the professional hip-hop dance scene. A four-time winner of the Spanish final of the Red Bull BC One competition, named Best Performer at Battle of the Year, and winner of the Experimental category at France’s Juste Debout… Jurado’s career took a new direction when he became a choreographer, following stints with prestigious companies such as La Veronal and Peeping Tom.

In 2016, his first solo piece, Agua, won the award for best performer at the MASDANZA international festival and travelled to Japan. Since then, Chey Jurado has been involved in a string of international collaborations, such as Hito, with Akira Yoshida, and Samsara, with Javito Mario. His second solo work, Raíz, won awards at the Burgos & New York International Dance Competition and also at MASDANZA.

Marea Weekend, making its world premiere at this year’s Autumn Festival, is set to immerse us “in a universe where time bends and identity splits”.
